Comparative study of the coagulation efficacy of Moringa Oleifera seeds extracts to alum for domestic wastewater treatment of Ain Aouda City, Morocco

This research aimed to investigate the performance of seeds extract Moringa Oleifera (MO) as an eco-friendly coagulant and alternative practice in enhancing primary domestic wastewater effluent treatment by coagulation/flocculation, sedimentation. The were dried, crushed, sieved, content oil was extracted with n-hexane a solvent employing soxhlet apparatus (electro thermal) then used residue coagulant. Jar tests conducted for improve from plant Ain Aouda city, Rabat, Morocco. For this reason, perform coagulation comparative using aluminium sulphate (alum). at optimal dose 250 mg/L shows encouraging results, comparison use alum (150 mg/L). In reality, terms TSS reduction 95.5% 96.8%, while turbidity 97.5% 98.1% obtained MO alum, respectively. But, rate COD BOD Alum somewhat higher than that 81.8% 76.8% COD, 75.5% 72% Differently observed increase dosage happened slight change pH value, decrease conductivity, three times less bulky quantity sludge alum. avoiding numerous disadvantages associated chemical coagulants, usage extracts is recommended.
